Rio de Janeiro Scene With its plentiful beaches, dramatic mountains, and backdrop of samba and bossa nova rhythms, it's easy to fall in love with Rio de Janeiro. Made famous in song, Ipanema Beach is still the place to stroll, sunbathe, and be seen. The largest Art Deco statue in the world, Christ the Redeemer, beckons visitors to Corcovado Mountain. Climate: As in many inland areas of this tropical climate area, in Rio de Janeiro the dry season runs in winter from June to August which is their winter. As Rio far enough south from the Equator to experience a drop in the winter temperature. Highs from May to October are around 26°C. This can be considered as a good time to visit because it's warm but not hot. The sun frequently shines and the rains are quite rare. However, the sea at this time is a bit cool so the best season for a beach holiday is in their summer, from January to March. During this time the heat is intense, with possible heat waves, during which the temperatures can reach 38°C. It can also experience heavy rains in the afternoon, but the amount of sunshine is still fairly good and the sea is warm.
